We arrived at Destin Pelican Beach Resort Yesterday

After spending a couple of days with friends in Montgomery, we arrived in Destin yesterday. It really felt like homecoming.

The weather is beautiful and the water and beaches as gorgeous as ever. We spent about 5 hours on the beach yesterday(there was no oil and no tar balls) and had a great time. The water was pretty warm and beach behind the Pelican Beach Resort pretty crowded.

I asked Niki at the front desk(Resorts of Pelican Beach Destin) if their business was off because of the oil spill scare and she said probable 50% but the last couple of weeks there has been a surge of last minute vacationers(like me).

This morning I am not sure what we will do but if my kids were a little younger they could participate in the youth activities set up by the Pelican Activities director.

Here is the Pelican Beach Resort Youth Activities line up for today.

8:30am-9am Free Hula Hoop Contest(by the Tiki Hut)
9am-9:30am (Free) Free style soccer(by the Tiki Hut)
10:30am-11:30am Decorate a koozie $5 (Pelican Pool Side) (wonder what a koozie is?)
1:30pm-2:30pm Paint a beach tile $5 (Pelican Pool Side)
3:30pm-4pm Free Bean Bag Toss (Pelican Pool Side)

After coming off the beach we spent about an hour in the outdoor pool and enjoyed the relaxation and shade as the pool is on the east side of the Pelican Building.
