Vision Airlines Flies the Destin Flight From Memphis Area

A few weeks ago I did a post about vision airlines flying into the Destin/Fort Walton area with regular flights.

In the Memphis commercial appeal this morning I read about Vision airlines choosing Tunica,Mississippi as their Memphis area hub for their flights to the Destin area.

Here is an excerpt from that article:

Vision is offering introductory fares of $39 each way between Tunica and Fort Walton Beach/Destin. The sale, available only at visionairlines.com, ends at 11 p.m. Sunday for travel between June 1 and July 15. Reg­ular fares are $99 each way. Baggage fees vary. Service will be aboard a 32-seat Dornier 328 turboprop. Flights will depart Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

We now have airline service from Memphis to Destin once again.

This is big news for Memphis and Destin. This small airline flies Cessna 208 Caravans and Grand Caravans. There are two small airports that they use in Memphis and they fly right into Destin's small airport (DTS) where I have been flying my plane into.

With advance notice, Enterprize and Hertz rental cars are available there at the terminal.Here is the website for the terminal and rental cars.

Week In May Just Came Available In Pelican Beach Resort

It is not often that I have a cancellation but it just happened for a 7 day rental beginning May 14, 2011.

Last night we had some pretty wicked weather come through west Tennessee and it hit the house of one of the renters slated to check in on those dates.

Looking to Book But Condo Not Available

As you can see on my calendar over on the left, my Destin Pelican Beach Resort unit #1004 is pretty booked for the season. However, don't despair as we have several options available to offer you.

Let me know the dates that you are interested in and I will make sure I do not have someone wanting to cancel for those dates. Also, I have 2 friends that own 3 different units in the Pelican Beach Resort Destin and I can check on availability in their units. One of those is a 1 bedroom and the other two are 2 bedrooms.

Did You Ever Watch Someone Fish For Pompano

During our short Destin Pelican Beach Resort vacation earlier this week, I observed some guys fishing for Pompano just off the beach. Later in the evening I ran into some guys at Walmart shopping for goodies to take on their pompano fishing trip.

These guys at Walmart told us that pompano are some of the best eating salt water fish.

We had a great vacation with the temperature in the low 80's and not a cloud in the sky.

Just Left the Beach & Now Shopping

I am sitting in the car blotting here while my wife is inside shopping at Bealls here in Destin. We also like to shop at Target and Marshalls.

Tonight we plan to go out and eat. There are so many places to eat out here in Destin.

Weather Perfect Here At Pelican Beach Resort

My wife and I arrived here last night at midnight and woke up this morning to a beautiful sun soaked day. I have the patio door open listening to the waves coming ashore while I write this Destin Pelican Beach Resort post.

I saw several fishing boats head out this morning. Looking in the Destin Log newspaper this morning I see that the Kings are inashore with many being caught with live bait and dead bait. It also looks like they have a cobia fishing contest going with some pretty big catches.

We still have a few openings on our calendar over on the right. I had a VRBO inquiry this morning asking about rates and availability for October 1-7. Unit #1004 Owners Headed To Destin Saturday

My wife and I are like a couple of kids in a candy store. we are so excited that we are headed to the Destin Pelican Beach Resort.

The last time I was there was about 5 weeks ago but I didn't have any R&R when I was there. As you can see in an earlier post, I spent the entire trip remodeling the kitchen and making other upgrades.

My wife hasn't seen the improvements first hand but she will this weekend. I plan to be just like any vacationer to Destin,Florida and enjoy my trip.
